BARBARY LION HOUND (c) MYSELF

Markings Sheet:
Markings by AthenaMyth
Breed Information: Not Up Yet
Colour Information: You are here

BASES:

Red: Default colour, the 'wild typing' of the hounds. Present when there is no black, or E(d)/E+
Represented by aa/Aa/AA. Does not affect typing of red unless it has a modifier.

Black: Base colour. Has two forms, one which is dominant to red, the other which is recessive to red.
E(d) is dominant, will always show a black base, no matter if it is homozygous or heterozygous.
E+ is recessive to red in both states, but will show if there is no agouti gene. (A) This form of black is needed to show brindling.
THE BLACK DOES NOT NEED TO BE EXPRESSED IN ORDER TO EXPRESS BRINDLE. Brindle will show up with all base coats and modifiers as long as one copy of E+ is present.

Fawn: Tawny hide with black points.
Is a modified agouti gene and is represented by A(y). Dominant so is expressed with both the homozygous and heterozygous forms. (One or Two copies does not change expression.)

Brown: Recessive to Fawn and E(d) black, Dominant to normal Agouti and E+ black.
Represented by bnbn or Bnbn. BnBn is normal colouring that allows red and black to be shown.

DILUTES:

Dun:
Modifies the base coat to a lighter, uneven tone throughout the body.
Represented by Dd only. Is an incomplete dominant and will not show if it has two copies of D or d. Present on all base colours.

Mouse Dun:
Lightens the base coat further and gives it a sleeker shine in the case of red, and reddens the brown and lightens t slightly in the case of brown. Only expressed on Red and Brown base coats while others may carry it. Recessive to Dd.
Represented by D(m)d(m) only.

Blue:
Present on black and black points only. Turns the black into a steely grey or 'blue' colouring. It is a recessive gene.
Represented by bb.

Isabella:
Present on brown only. Lightens the brown to a near cream colour, lighter than dun. It is a recessive gene.
Represented by isis

OTHER MODIFIERS:

Changling:
Present on red or black base. Slowly fades from red to black, or black to red over a span of years. Recessive gene.
Represented by c(h)c(h)

Charolais White:
Has two forms depending on if the alleles are heterozygous or homozygous. Has pink skin.
Represented by W(c)

Homozygous: Gives a white or cream appearance over entire body. W(c)W(c)
Heterozygous: Gives a Slate/grey colouring to the body. W(c)w(C)

Albino:
Dominant over all bases and modifiers.
Recessive, represented by cc

Disclaimer: Markings/colourings based off both dog and cattle genetics, with tweaks and allele codings given by myself due to clashes or insufficient research on said markings/colours. Therefore, although the colours/markings are based off real genetics, there are discrepancies which are done purposefully to have a better flow and easier understanding.

Barbary Lion Hounds (c) Myself. All similarities between it and other breeds are purely coincidental.
