Unexpected

Sighing, Talen strode across the yard early on a Saturday morning. They'd just received a few more new Spirit horses and some of them needed a bit more handling than normal. The one he was most worried about was Theria, the nitrina spooking at anything that she wasn't used to. As this was an entirely different stable for her, that meant everything. He and Azar both had tromped toes, rope burns and bruises just transporting her from the trailer to the pasture.

He came around the corner, expecting to see the mare hyped up and stressed along the fenceline and abruptly stopped. She was still there, yes. Rather calm, lip quivering as she slept standing in the middle of the pasture. But that wasn't so much what took him by surprise. There was a creature dozing on her back, wings sprouted along the lower back and trailing on the ground on either side of the sleeping bay.

Cautiously, the elf made his way over, trying not to waken or startle Theria as he did so. That was a failure in and of itself. The mare's ears flicked back as his footsteps crunched in the snow covering the bland landscape and she squealed, tucking her rump under her before shooting off into the woods, knocking the blue tinted being onto it's rump on the ground.

"What the?" Was all the elf could utter as the being hopped back up and gave him a look, dusting the snow off it's wings. "You scared Theria away!" It scolded, folding it's arms across it's chest.

"How do you know what her name is?" He asked suspiously, stepping towards the blue tinted humanoid.

"She told me. She said she wanted to snuggle. I like snuggling, so we did." It stated matter of factly, striding across the pasture and hopping over the fence easily, towering over Talen with at least 4 inches to spare. "She'll want to snuggle again, so I'll stay here. Bye." With that it walked off into the forest, leaving the elf rubbing his forehead in confusion and slight annoyance. Just what he needed. Yet another person to watch over and guide in their apparent bond. He was getting too old to be in charge, he thought wryly.
