PLACED 1st and Judge's Choice: RESULTS - Oak Brooke's Second Annual Dressage Show

It had been 10 years since Orod had been retired. In that time many things had happened, not the least of them was Dominic and Tanya moving back from Austria with their son, Chase. With the relief of no longer having to manage much of the day to day business of Eagle Crest, Talen had been able to really focus on his true passions. His horses.

He and Bronwen had forged a strong bond in those ten years. With the long awaited apology and grudging respect from Orod, the younger buckskin stallion had blossomed as the grey had finally taken the other under his wing. Now he was a strong and wise stallion who lived to please his bonded master. This showed in all he did, from the graceful moves in the arena, to the determination in mastering new moves, to the affection he gave the elf when they just spent time together. Even Orod had grown affectionate to the buckskin and would greet him after being separated from the other for a long period. Between the two stallions, Orod’s youngest filly was babied and loved far beyond any other horse at Eagle Crest could imagine.

This time Talen had opted to bring Bronwen and Roentias to a show the elf been attending almost since the beginning. Oak Brooke’s Dressage show was one of the shows in which he could depend on for some good competition and show experience for his horses and one where Bronwen was comfortable for the most part. It promised to be a rather dark and dreary day and for most, it would be a rather bleak day for a show. However, it pleased Talen for such weather with his two Nitrina’s in hand. They did their best in the dark, dreary lighting and he knew for certain it would go a long way to comfort Bronwen’s preshowing jitters.

“Easy there son.” He chuckled, feeling the stallion shifting beneath him, drawing him out of his musings. “We’ll be on soon. Then you’ll do what you always do. Draw the attentions of the crowd.” The elf patted the broad neck of his mount. “You’ve got this Bronwen. You know that.”

“I know…” The stallion sighed, stretching his neck out to loosen up his tense muscles and prepare himself for what was ahead. “I can’t help feeling nervous… What if…” He stopped as Talen twitched a rein, a reprimand.

“Don’t go there.” The brunette warned. “You know as well as I do where that takes you young sir. You will do fine, you always do. It’s not about them. It’s about us and what we can do with each other. Anything else is extra.” He paused as there was an announcement from the main arena.

“That’s us. Relax young one.” With another gentle pat, Talen gathered up his reins and directed Bronwen forward, feeling the stallion blow out heavily as they got to the entrance. He knew all would be fine. As soon as the buckskin’s hooves hit the sand, he’d forget it all in exchange for the feeling of their bond working and bringing them together as one beneath the arena lights. With that in mind, the elf reached out through their bond and touched the stallion gently, feeling the other’s feelings become more clear and enveloping around him. This was it. Now they could begin.

First 'real' full marker image. I say first because I started this a long time ago and just finished it the other day. Any tips on better blending are appreciated. I did discover that I need a bigger variety of greens to add to my bigger variety of reds that are on my list. Lol.

Prisma and copic markers with a hint of prismascholars.
