<s>I AM EXTENDING THIS SHOW FOR 3 MORE WEEKS TO GIVE EVERYONE A LITTLE MORE TIME TO FINISH THEIR ENTRIES AS WE ARE STILL MISSING SEVERAL OF THE PRE-REGISTERED ENTRIES </s>

Welcome all to Four Season's first Annual Junior Rider Show!

An event specifically for the younger riders in our global community (18 years or under).
The event will run for three days; beginning Friday at midday with a barbeque lunch on the beach to officially start the event and ending Sunday afternoon with a bareback beach and trail ride.

As the riders competing are under the age of 18 years and still require guardianship we requests than a responsible adult accompany both horse and rider (of course they are welcome to bring their own mount and ride the trails and beach around Four Seasons).

Location: Tasmanian West Coast (AUS)
Season: Winter
Weather:
Friday: Frost in the early morning with patches still found in the shade throughout the day. A cold but clear day with light winds, and clouds forming in the late evening.
Saturday: Thick blanketing fog covers the paddocks and arena turning into light drizzle by 10am before clearing at midday to show a cloud streaked sky with winds picking up in the evening.
Sunday: Another frosty morning with strong winds leaving streams of mare's tail clouds moving high in the sky.

Age Divisions*:

Topsy - Riders under 8 years, may be led by guardian.
Young Rider - 9-13 years
Junior Rider - 14-18 years
*Please note that age divisions will only be judged separately in each class if there are more than 3 entries in each age division per class otherwise age divisions will only apply to Judges Choice and Supreme Champion Classes.

Classes:

Costume: How well does your horse or pony behave when dressed up in the most outrageous costume you can make?
Join us on the beach as the sun sets over the ocean and sends the water into darkness as twilight decends and the Southern cross becomes visible

Hacking: Group dressage in a sense. Saturday morning is the the time to show off your horse or pony at their best; standing pretty or at a walk, trot or canter.
Being held on the open grassy area between white fenced paddocks and thick eucalyptus forest.
Any tack is acceptable so long as it is worn correctly, rider dress should be clean and semi-formal (English and Western accepted).

Games: Feels free to join in one (or all three) of the set up games running in the outdoor sand arena early Saturday afternoon. There will be a prize for games champion for the highest placed rider/pony in all three games.
Bending Poles - Weave your way through a set of 10 white poles trying to go as fast as possible without missing any poles.
Cup Race - Riders carrying a full cup of water must ride 20m, turn around a barrel and dismount before running home on foot while leading their horse and carrying their full cup.
Keyhole - A "keyhole" (partly open circle with two straight ends leading into it) pattern is outlined in the yellow sand with a white rope. Gallop your horse into the keyhole, turn and gallop out without stepping outside the rope.

Show Jumping: Held in the outdoor sand arena once the games have wrapped up Saturday evening.
The course is made up of 9 jumps; including a double, a spread and a triple bar. The jumps can be set between 50cm and 120cm and are made of poles and plank boards (including a "wave" board). It is up to you what colour, height and design these jumps are.

Mini Cross Country: Sunday morning will see the running of a shortened cross country course made up of just 10 fences and only 1.5km long. These fences have 4 different height options, 50cm, 70cm, 90cm, and 110cm.
The fences include: Car and tractor tyres, logs, crossed fallen tree branches, brush piles, ditches, and a water jump. Some examples here - 4SS Cross Country Jumps
The course snakes through a eucalyptus forest filled with ferns, wallabies, wombats and may small birds.

Bareback Beach Trail Ride (non-competitive): Brave the wind on Sunday and join us for one last ride, of course guardians are welcome to join their charges and may borrow one of Four Season's horses if they have not brought their own. Leave those saddles behind and ride out bareback along the beach, maybe take your horses and ponies for a swim in the cold water or race along the hard packed sand. Then relax in the shelter of the tall sand dunes on the ride home.
While non-competitive there will be awards and prizes up for grabs from the beach race (eg most daring entry, safest pony, etc, etc.)
